To benchmark your card according Andrea Lanfranchi suggestion:
ethminer -M blocknumber -A progpow --diff 5 --HWMON 2

Example: ethminer -M 7770000 -A progpow --diff 5 --HWMON 2

Notes: Do not benchmark while mining. HWMON 2 parameter will display useful information as temperature, fan load, tdp, etc. There is hashrate variance of +-10% among different periods (every 50 blocks).

ProgPoW - A Programmatic Proof of Work

ProgPoW is a proof-of-work algorithm designed to close the efficency gap available to specialized ASICs. It utilizes almost all parts of commodity hardware (GPUs), and comes pre-tuned for the most common hardware utilized in the Ethereum network.
Ever since the first bitcoin mining ASIC was released, many new Proof of Work algorithms have been created with the intention of being “ASIC-resistant”. The goal of “ASIC-resistance” is to resist the centralization of PoW mining power such that these coins couldn’t be so easily manipulated by a few players.

ELI5: Differences between BCI'S ProgPoW and ETH'S ProgPoW?

As explained by @OhGodAGirl: "BCI's ProgPoW is based on <0.9.0 ni the spec, as well as with the randomly generated code happening only every epoch; ETH's ProgPoW is based on >0.9.2 in the spec, with randomly generated code every 50 to 10 blocks. 0.9.3 has every 10 blocks."
